Amal Altareb

Amal Altareb is the West-TN program manager for AMAC. She is a Yemeni-American graduate from Yale University with a bachelors in political science and a certificate in human rights and Arabic. A proud former social studies teacher at Pleasant View School. Amal is also on the board of youth-focused Memphis 901Ummah, helping lead community building events. Similarly with NYC-based Eiha Group, Amal leads educational and social programming for Yemeni-American youth.

In 2023, she founded Courageous Conversations in Memphis with a mission to gather a diverse group of Memphians who are concerned about and would like to see the end to violence in Palestine. She also organizes with Memphis Moms 4 Gaza.

She also serves on the board of the Memphis Interfaith Coalition for Action and Hope as the Secretary. She is also on the board of a humanitarian aid nonprofit called Yemen Aid. Amal also co-founded a youth-led advocacy nonprofit called Free Uyghur Now, advocating for the freedom of Uyghurs in East Turkestan.
