Are you on the hunt for a home and don’t know where to start? Although the cost of living throughout the country has risen, rest assured there are options for you and your family to find affordable housing if you know where to look.


Where to Look for Affordable Housing in Nashville

Subsidized housing is a broad term that covers all housing that the government provides assistance for in order to make it more affordable; this can include Income Based Housing, Section 8 Housing (where your landlord will accept a voucher for a private rental), or Public Housing (renting directly from the government).


The first step in your rental journey is to explore this website:https://www.tnhousingsearch.org, follow the directions below:


  1. Go to “Advanced Search,” click on Nashville,

  2. Scroll down to “Other Search Options.”

  3. Click on “Income Based or Sliding Scale Rent”

  4. Click the search button.


Once there, you will be able to find affordable options available to you!

Because they do not open very often, it is important to remember to apply for every complex you are interested in, as they often fill up very quickly!

  1. Choose the counties that you are interested in

  2. View the list that will generate
